Urging Latino Community To Voice Mental Health Questions DBSA Provides Support Through EXTRA's Health Forum
Chicago EXTRA November 13, 2008
Due to the dramatic disparity in health care and the need for better access to support and treatment, Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) has developed a dynamic and interactive Spanish-language Web site, dbsalianza.org, empoweringcaregivers and those coping with depression and bipolar disorder with
critical recovery tools and information.
In addition to the site, DBSA has opened a "Community Mental Health Forum" with a question and answer format for the Latino community. DBSA urges Spanish-speaking individuals to submit their questions and concerns regarding depression and bipolar disorder to this anonymous open forum hosted by EXTRA Bilingual Newspaper. EXTRA will only print the questions and answers. Names will not be printed.
Individuals are encouraged to ask questions such as:
- What are the signs of depression and bipolar disorder?
- Where can I find Spanish educational brochures in both audio and print?
- Where should I go to find help, treatment and support?
- How can I help a loved one?
The community mental health forum begins Nov. 13. The last day to submit questions is Nov. 24. DBSA will respond to individual questions in EXTRA's Nov. 27 edition. E-mail questions to editor@extranews.net and put ALIANZA QUESTION in the subject head. |
